Steadyrack proudly supports the RMHC Ride for Sick Kids WA
For five years running, Steadyrack have been sponsoring the Ronald McDonald House Charities WA Ride for Sick Kids (RFSK) event. This year’s event was another massive one, and we’re very proud to again be a Gold Sponsor.
This impressive event is a multi-day ride, covering over 500 km across our home state of Western Australia. The huge fundraising efforts of everyone involved allows the RMHC WA to continue to provide vital support to families all over WA with sick children. This year raising an impressive $400k!
One of those brave children is all grown up and is this year’s official ride ambassador - Ethan! Living in Busselton – about 222 kms away from Perth, Ethan was diagnosed with cancer at just three years old. Ethan and his family were supported by RMHC throughout his 10 months of treatment, allowing them to stay together in Perth while he received his care at the nearby hospital.
After his treatment was over, Ethan stayed close to the charity, he even fundraised to support Ronald McDonald House charity for his 8th birthday party! He’s been supporting the ride since 2013, cheering the riders along the route each year. Fast forward to today, and Ethan is working as a lifeguard at his local pool, while competing in half iron mans! He’s also the official ambassador at this year’s ride – cycling the route along with the other amazing riders participating.
The work that RMHC do means that families from rural areas don’t have to be apart while their child undergoes lifesaving treatment for what can be months or even years at a time. This service makes all the difference for families in impossible situations, giving them peace of mind that they are close to the hospital and shouldering some of the financial burden that comes with caring for a sick child. Steadyrack are proud to continue to support such a worthwhile cause.
